Events
It is going to be a busy year. There's a full training programme planned, improvers will meet most Saturdays, the cadets will meet monthly as well as some Friday nights and the sailing and social calendar is looking packed. There's now a printable copy of the calendar of events on the new website: http://www.hernebaysailingclub.co.uk/uploads/5/7/7/4/57749705/hbsc-2016-fixtures_dates.pdf Duties Herne Bay Sailing Club is a volunteer-run club and relies on its members doing their duties to ensure the success of the sailing season. This year we will be using Dutyman to arrange the rotas. From Friday 11th March you will be able to choose your three duties on a first come first served basis. To do this:
For a Dutyman password reminder, enter your email address in the box on the right hand side of https://dutyman.biz/dmmain.aspx?id=H0002219 then choose `Click here for a login reminder': Someone will be on hand during slipway laying to help anyone who has questions or would like help to select their duties using Dutyman. Members who have not chosen their duties by 15th March and those who join after the 15th March will be allocated the unfilled duties. Dutyman automatically reminds members of their duties, and it facilitates swaps if a date becomes inconvenient. The Sailing committee wishes to establish a list of volunteers who may be available at short notice to fill a spot in the duty rota. Email hernebaysailing@btconnect.com if you would like to be on the list. Noticeboard One of the unused noticeboards in the corridor by the gear store will be used this year for members and club suppliers to advertise their businesses and/or services. Tango's Engine Damage to Tango's gearbox has proven too costly to repair and a new 2-stroke lightweight outboard is being sourced. This year's open events (the Hornets, the Windsurfers and the South Coast Rowing regatta) will go some way to covering the cost of the new engine. News from the Development and Marketing Committee The Development and Marketing committee has been busy working on plans to refresh the bar area, update the club's marketing material and sourcing signage for around the town, at the top of the hill and on the prom. You may have also spotted a couple of flag poles in the boat shed which will be put to good use shortly. Full minutes from all the club's committees are posted on the clubhouse noticeboard next to the cleaner's cupboard.
