Good day club members, I am writing a small piece about what has been going on with the sailing committee, more accurately what I've been doing. I'm hoping that other committee members will follow on from this theme.
The slipway laying has been volunteered to myself and with help from other members the project is well on the way. We have new tools as the old ones were cracking and starting to fail, the bolts and metal plates are on order and will be at the club well before the 12th March. Alan and David are making the new sections with the specialized wood they ordered. So as of today its all well in hand. Other news which I will just glance over leaving the committee member in charge to elaborate on if necessary. The sailing rules are being updated this year and will be posted to the racing page of the web site shortly. I've never read the sailing rules and this year I was asked too, the club sailing rules are not a tome and only took me a few minutes to read through, so please if you race have a look. There will be a slipway etiquette to show people the best way to use the slipway in different winds etc. Those of you whom very kindly do the safety boat throughout the year, again there are some small changes which will help all whom race, safety boat and race officer. A big one to announced a little later by a separate sub committee will be a big one for the club and great fun so please keep the 16th July evening free. That's it from me, there is a lot more happening at the club so keep an eye out on the website for more information. Its all looking good for another fabulous sailing season. Look forward to seeing at the club either on the water or at a social. James
