Saturday the 25th July saw many sailors on the water.
A party of twelve went there and back on a shorter-than-planned cruise due to the lack of wind at Hampton and then inclement weather (hail, rain, thunder & lightening). Nonetheless the wind eventually picked up and the sail back was great fun. Thanks to Tony S. for organising. Ian M. has posted some great photographs on the Herne Bay Sailing Club - Members' Forum facebook group. The shore was busy with two groups of sailors taking RYA level 1 and 2 with Richard de L. and Doug W., and a large group of improvers were talked through a demonstration of the sail controls on double- and single-handed boats by Laurie D. and Harvey B. Eventually everyone got on the water and put what they had learned into practice. The newly-improved winch made it easy to get all the heavier boats and the safety boats back onto shore.
