Dawn to Dusk Centenary Race
Herne Bay Sailing Club are celebrating 100 years of sailing with a Dawn to Dusk Centenary Race over the weekend of Saturday 17th - Sunday 18th July 2021 

Over the Weekend
The weekend will include 24 hours of team relay racing (over 2 days) to include the following prizes:
  • The overall winner.
  • The fastest lap.
  • The first under 16.
  • The first under 18.
  • The first single handed team.
  • The first double handed team.
  • The Second overall
  • Third overall.
  • Race officer's choice.
  • Sponsors choice.

The weekend will also include live entertainment, a BBQ on Friday and Saturday evenings, a licensed bar, and full use of the club facilities.

​Race Information
The event is being hosted by Herne Bay Sailing Club as part of the Club’s centenary celebrations. The single race will be held over two days, 14 hours on the 17th July and 10 hours on the 18th July 2021. The race is a relay race with each team being made up of multiple crews sailing a single dinghy. The minimum and maximum Team sizes are:
  • Double handed dinghies- Minimum 3 crews 1 (six people) maximum of 6 crews (2 people).
  • Single Handed dinghies- Minimum 3 helms, Maximum 6 helms.
The event sailed will be GPS tracked, with various competitions within the single race.

Schedule
Friday 16th July Saturday 17th July Sunday 18th July
Registration - 1700 to 2100.
Briefing at 2100.
First warning signal not before 0555.
Day one sailing no longer than 14 hours.
No warning signal before 0755.
Day two sailing no longer than 10 hours.

​Entry Criteria and Ticket Prices
The HBSC 100 is for mono hull hiking dinghies with a Portsmouth yard stick number from PY942 to 1244. Teams shall be made up of a minimum of three and a maximum of six crews. The entry costs are as follows:
  • Double Handed dinghy teams £150
  • Single Handed dinghy team £100.
  • Under 18 teams double handed £75
  • Under 18 single handed teams £50

Cancellation terms & conditions
  • 1.1. The Organising Authority may cancel the event, cancel classes and reject or cancel entries in its absolute discretion, subject to RRS 76.
  • 1.2. Should the Organising Authority cancel a class or reject an entry they shall refund the entry fee in full.
  • 1.3. Should the Organising Authority cancel the event at least 36 hours prior to the scheduled start of race 1 the entry fee will be refunded less any costs incurred.
  • 1.4. Should the Organising Authority cancel the event within 36 hours of the scheduled start of race 1 any refunds will be at the sole discretion of the Organising Authority.
  • 1.5. If an entry is cancelled by a competitor, the entry fee will be refunded as follows:
Cancellation Date/Entry Fee Refund
  • Up to 12pm (noon) on the 30th May 2021 - 80%
  • After 12pm (noon) on the 30th May 2021 - 0%

By taking part in any of the events covered by this notice of race, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that they are responsible for complying with any regulations in force from time
to time in respect of COVID-19 and for complying with the Herne Bay Sailing Club COVID-19
procedures. Competitors and support persons shall comply with any reasonable request from an event official. Failure to comply may be misconduct. Reasonable actions by event officials to implement COVID-19 guidance, protocols or legislation, even if they later prove to have been unnecessary, are not improper actions or omissions.
