Saturday 29th April saw 12 members instructed in the skills needed for good safety boat support, ably taught by Allan, Dave, Doug and Laurie. The feedback below from the participants says it all. If you'd like to take part in the next course, email the club or speak to Doug Whiteoak.
The HBSC Safety Boat Course was very enjoyable informative and very worthwhile. It was a great refresher for both power boat 2 and experienced helms as well as good experience for those who wanted to gain confidence in carrying out power boat duties. In particular the focus on recovering crew and capsize club boat types was very good. What a great day thank you to everyone. I was very anxious about what to expect today however, I have left the course feeling a lot more informed on the subject and I had so much fun whilst learning. Thank you everyone again. I would like to pass on my thanks to all those who ran the safety boat course today. It was very informative and well structured. I found the input addressed all of the salient points and this was backed up by extremely good practical sessions. In my opinion, the course achieved its serious objectives in a manner that was friendly and inclusive. The whole day was good fun and appeared to be enjoyed by all of the participants. I thought the training session was fantastic, it was really well organised and the delivery was great on the theory sessions. The practical session was really good, very informative and again, really well delivered. Overall a superb day, huge thanks to Doug, Allan, Dave and Laurie. Really enjoyed the training day yesterday. Thought it was pitched at the right level and extremely well presented. Excellent course, which I thoroughly recommend to all members who take on safety boat duties whether as a refresher or to learn about safe recovery of people and boats for the first time. Really enjoyable day thanks to Allan, Dave, Doug, Laurie and everyone else on the course.
