This season has not seen the punters fighting their way through the crash barrier at the end of the prom gagging to take part on a training course unlike other years at this time. The news is that other club’s training centres are finding the same problem. When money is short people stop doing the fun things first, unless it doesn’t cost money. We have nevertheless run three - two day courses so far this season and have welcomed: Christine Weal – Level 2, who has joined as a full time member, David Blowers level 1, Lorraine Alexander level 1, (Dai thought she looked a better helm than Guy, or perhaps he said she looked better in a wet suit than Guy) and her daughter Chloe who was awarded Stages 1 & 2. In the second course we welcomed Clive and Jane Woodward, and Robert Murphy and Matthew Ward – Level 1. The weather has been kind unlike other years and they all enjoyed the club facilities and the banter from our veteran instructor, ‘King of the Wayfarer’ Dai Griffiths. They have certainly had a brilliant pupil to instructor ratio and have all been good fun to teach.
