Monday 17 December – Carol Service (7:30pm) NOT 7PM AS PREVIOUSLY ADVERTISED HBSC members are invited by the Riverside Church to join them in a carol service which will take place at Herne Bay Sailing Club. They will also be serving nibbles and mulled wine.
22nd December – Festive drinks & carols (from 7pm) Anyone who plays an instrument and wants to join in playing alongside Kai, Chris and the Dyer family instead of singing is welcome too.
28th December – Commodore's Punch Up (from 7pm) Moved to its traditional slot. after Christmas. Join our Commodore for mulled wine and nibbles.
Monday 31 December - New Year's Eve party (From 8pm until late): Simone & Karl will once again be hosting a New Year’s Eve party at the Sailing Club. All members are welcome. Bring a plate of food to share. £1 per person contribution towards the decorations for the evening. Expect plenty of music, dancing and games.
Sunday 6 January – Walk to Reculver (Start HBSC at 11am) Walk to Reculver, lunch at the Ethelbert Pub in Reculver, then walk back to HBSC. To book a dining place, email firstname.lastname@example.org by 30 December latest.
Local Notice to Mariners Coastal Defence work at Herne Bay, Kent Carried out under MMO Licence L/2018/00134/1 Mariners are advised on or around the October 1st 2018 coastal defence work will commence at the beach just below the beach to the east of Herne Bay. The works will involve supply of rocks to the beach and will involve large marine vessels. The vessel delivering the rock to the beach will be the Selina, accompanied by tugs New Ross and MT Indus. It is expected that the operation offshore will take 1 tide to complete. All marine equipment will depart on completion of the works. 1.8’18”E / 1:8’20”E / 51.22’24”N / 51:22’23”N
All vessels will be lit in accordance with international regulations. Mariners are advised to keep safe distance from all vessel involved in the operation and note that there will be vessels ‘under tow’. We are a family friendly sailing club and enjoy some of the best sailing waters on the North Kent coast. Our favourable location and our own slipway access mean that we are able to launch and recover at most states of the tide. We have members of all ages and abilities, and anyone interested in sailing with us can be sure of receiving plenty of help and encouragement.
