You may have seen the Heron sculpture that recently landed on the Herne Bay pier. It is a scale model of a large sculpture that will sit on Neptune's Arm and be the flagship piece of a planned sculpture trail between Herne Bay and Reculver Towers. As part of the engineering and design processes, some materials are being tested on our boat shed.

If you have passed the clubhouse recently you will have noticed that most of the front of the lounge has gone. The next step is some work to level up the slab. The new windows and doors are anticipated to arrive at the end of the month. The last progress update from the Development team expected installation in the second week of March.
The boat shed has also had some work with Andy and team busy re-arranging the training store so that it will be easier to use and the safety boat team have been altering the space to better accommodate the boats. The new engine for Viking is being fitted and Viking's engine is now on Avon. Thank you to all those who have been working hard improving the club's facilities this winter. Clare On one of the first weekends with decent weather, a group of members met at the clubhouse to take a gentle walk to the Hampton Inn and back. Thanks to the Hampton Inn team for a great welcome and lovely food.
Clare Work on replacing the windows in the club house has truly started. On a cold February morning Jane, Jeni, Tony, Allan, Steve, David, Peter and Ben got stuck in turning two tons of aggregate into a concrete mantel and yes in case you wanted to ask we did put rebar in there so don't panic. Well unless you belong to the colony of shrimp that had set up home on the old balcony.
Update from Peter on the window fitting: Window install has been delayed as there is the opportunity to have a marine coating applied, which is obviously advantageous in the long run. Install is now expected first week of March. |
