LaserFest18 at Herne Bay SC

9/6/2018

We look forward to welcoming visitors from Broadstairs Sailing Club and Whitstable Yacht Club for LaserFest18 HBSC's leg, for what we hope will be the start of many such events in the years to come, with return visits to their clubs later in this season too.

The events on the day will comprise a Laser local acclimatisation race at 1130, a break for lunch (BBQ food, sandwiches and snacks available from the galley) then our scheduled Early Summer 9 & 10 races in which the visitors will also take part, with a separate result for the Lasers within the overall ‘all boats’ results.

The acclimatisation race will start at 1130 and the Club racing will start as soon after 1300 as lunch and conditions permit.

Photography competition

3/6/2018

All members of Herne Bay Sailing Club are invited to take part in a competition to update the photographs at the top of each page on the club website.

We are looking for images that reflect the club's activities and show members enjoying what Herne Bay Sailing Club has to offer whether that is on the water, the shore or the sun deck.

You do not have to be a great photographer to take a great image, nor own an expensive camera: many phone cameras as excellent. We are looking for images that showcase Herne Bay Sailing Club.

A couple of members of Herne Bay Photographic Club have volunteered to help me select the most suitable photographs.

To take part, please upload your photographs to the Dropbox folder (link sent by email) before noon on the 6th July with your name in the image title.

There is some advice here on the dimensions of images that are suitable for the banner images. As high a resolution as possible is also advised.

We are looking for up to nine images, one for each main page of the website. The winners will have their images displayed on the club's webpage for the next year or two and win a free drink in the bar.

All suitable submitted images will be included in a gallery on the website.

Please note that the club will need to seek consent from members who are identifiable before including their image on the website.

Get snapping and I look forward to seeing your photographs.
Clare

We have members of all ages and abilities, and anyone interested in sailing with us can be sure of receiving plenty of help and encouragement.
