Well the summer has been superb, weather and sailing alike, and I've very much enjoyed the sailing and socialising this season. Only one sailing series left, the freezer series, and then it is all over for the sailing for another year, unless you are off to Westbere. This brings me to the matter in hand. Four weeks to the slipway upping and the merry hard working band of members to put the slipway to bed for another season. Here lies my message. To make this as smooth and as quick as possible, with the preparation of the following years slipway laying, could I ask for some volunteers for a couple of key roles please. In no particular order:
Its an early start again (they always seem to be) SATURDAY 29th OCTOBER 06.00 START. All your help is always appreciated, even if you can't do all morning any time you can offer is greatly received plus the banter of the old boys (ed: and the girls!) is worth coming for.
So with bacon rolls, gallons of tea and coffee the slipway will rise again ready to be laid again next year. For those generous and kind people who would like to volunteer for these roles please let me know: firstname.lastname@example.org
See you all for the last four weeks sailing and at the upping and upping supper. The slipway upping supper and presentation of some of the trophies will be at 7pm for 7.30pm. Email email@example.com to sign up for the supper, or let Alistair know on the day.
